Latest Additions (And Why You Should Stop Shopping)

Throughout highschool I was a ridiculous shopper. Every year I would find an excuse to buy an entirely new wardrobe. I would be drawn to Forever 21 and fill my basket with trend pieces that everyone was buying. I struggled to resist buying something that caught my eye so I just ended up with it all. Volume was definitely more important than quality. Why buy 1 when you can have 10? It wasn’t until I moved out and had to squeeze 5 years of a shopping addiction into my tiny University wardrobe that things started to change. I would end up wearing the same things over and over again because it was too overwhelming to open a bursting wardrobe. At 7am who really has the brain power to sort through a hundred pairs of identical jeans?

Funnily enough it wasn’t until my boyfriend sat me down one night and told me I had a problem (yes, it was actually a problem). He made me realise how much money I was wasting on clothes that I would only wear once or twice, that would eventually get pushed to the back of my wardrobe along with all the other things that were no longer ‘trends’.

As I began to see that value was more important, I knew it was time to change my ways. The trick was not to stop the online orders all together, but more importantly to shop smartly. Living in Barcelona and surrounded by some of the best shopping in the world, it made it especially hard to control the urge to spend. But the technique to shopping better is about being intentional on how you spend your money, time and energy. I still find things I love, but now I try to only make an informed purchase after I have decided whether I really need it.

Here are a few new and exciting things in my collection that I have picked up over the past few weeks and wanted to share with you all, hope you enjoy.

There are two of my favourite items I have picked up recently. The first item is a gorgeous little charm bronze necklace from Macy’s, which was a present from my mum last Christmas. She picked it up during her month long road trip around America so it’s very special to me! The second is this white blouse from Zaful.com with a really cool leopard pocket. I have so many clean white shirts so when they reached out to me I was excited to pick up something a little more unique.

I picked up these cool peachy nude trainers from Esprit in their sale over the weekend. They were so reduced (from 70chf to 34chf!) and I knew they’d make a great addition.

Less is more sometimes! Definitely try to focus on key pieces instead of constantly buying as well!

I am so proud of you that you can change that slowly! Keep it up! And yes, quality items worth the money so much more than fast fashion items!
